Driving efficiency at the BBC

28 November 2014

On 27 November Lord Hall, Director-General of the BBC and Anne Bulford, Managing Director, BBC Finance and Operations, spoke at a Reform event on “More for less: driving efficiency at the BBC”.

The event marked the launch of the BBC’s efficiency and productivity report, available here. The report points out that the BBC has steadily increased its range of services while reducing its headcount by 8 per cent since 2009.

In his closing remarks, Andrew Haldenby said that the BBC is following several elements of current best practice public service reform. These included reform of the workforce; better use of the estate; better use of digital communication; and competition between providers.
