Cyber security will be a major theme of next week’s Strategic Defence and Security Review (on Monday) and Spending Review (on Wednesday).
Reform looked at the domestic implications of cyber security in a summit held in partnership with KPMG and BT earlier this year. One of the main findings was that companies of all sizes need to take cyber security seriously, especially the basic need to update anti-virus software. The summit video and transcript is available here.
Given this, three events later this month will be very helpful: “Directors’ Cybersecurity Masterclasses”, on 30 November and 1 December.
The events are supported by CIPD, Cifas, BT, The National Archives and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. They will cover the true nature and scale of cybercrime, the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials Scheme, minimum technical measures that business need to implement, staff education and awareness, and the right response to a cyber breach.
