Reform publishes “Beyond April 2015: the long view on UK pension reform” conference brochure, with articles by Stephen Lowe, Rt Hon Steve Webb MP, Rt Hon the Lord Hutton of Furness, Mark Hoban MP, Baroness Drake CBE, Paul Johnson, Dr Yvonne Braun, Professor Davis, David John, Associate Professor Susan St John, Chris Curry, Tom Wright CBE and Paul Cox.
In the 2014 Budget the Government announced major changes to the UK retirement landscape, with the aim of increasing choice for people with defined contribution pension savings. The reforms go live on 6 April and will provide consumers with unprecedented freedom over their financial decisions at retirement.
With the reforms comes the need to consider how individuals are supported when they use the freedoms. The newly-branded “pension wise” service will have a crucial role in building engagement and guiding retirees through their options, but the long-term experiences of the “freedom and choice” generations will only become clear over time. Taken together with the abolition of the default retirement age, the continued roll-out of auto-enrolment and new state pensions, this event will explore the challenges facing retirees beyond 6 April and the key policy considerations likely to face the next government.PDF DOWNLOAD
