William Mosseri-Marlio, Senior Researcher at Reform, wrote an article for The Yorkshire Post after the publication of Reform‘s report, The future of public services: digital jobcentres.

The uncertain economic climate after the EU result means that the performance of the labour market is more crucial than ever. Boosting jobcentre productivity must be a top priority for the new government. Changes to the way tax data is recorded can give analysts a much richer picture of what works in employment policy, and can allow work programmes to be tailored to individuals. Jobcentres can also play a much greater role in driving economic prosperity.

“Improvements in productivity will amount to far more than softening the worst effects of an economic slowdown. Ultimately, smarter services will also help individuals achieve a crucial driver of personal wellbeing: a secure job.”
