The Sun published an article covering Reform‘s latest report, Working welfare: a radically new approach to sickness and disability benefits, which argues that a radical overhaul of the current disability welfare system is needed.

The article highlighted the report’s key findings, including the fact that the current system leaves many claimants parked on benefits, despite the fact that 50 per cent of support group claimants would like to work. As a result, they lose out on the positive benefits of employment including social inclusion and improving mental and physical health. As part of the reform, Employment and Support Allowance payments would be reduced. However, savings made from this would be reinvested into other disability benefits.
