The Guardian, 24 May 2016

The Guardian covered Home Secretary Rt Hon Theresa May MP’s speech on fire reform, held by Reform. A full copy of the speech can be found here.

The article highlighted her intention to introduce an independent inspection regime, and allow elected police and crime commissioners to take over fire and rescue services, where a local cause to do so is made. She also argued that the workforce had to modernise, to tackle the current lack of diversity and end the culture of bullying that exists. Reform would have to exist up the chief fire officer level.
