Schools Week, 23 September 2016

Amy Finch, Research Manager and Head of Education, wrote an article in Schools Week following the publication of Reform’s report, Academy Chains Unlocked.

She argued that the government’s determination to expand selection must be done within the current system, including academies. Their policy on academy schools and chains remain vital to its reform agenda. She argued that key reforms are still needed to create “a a better, more sustainable academy system”. These include taking the role of commissioners away from the government, and making the rebrokerage system more transparent.

“The government’s policy on academy schools and chains remains vital to its reform agenda…But the government should not go stale on academies: the policy needs reform.”
