Ben Dobson, Researcher at Reform, wrote an article for Prospects titled ‘Unacceptable regional attainment gaps persist’, following the publication of Reform‘s recent report, Academy chains unlocked.

In this article, Ben states that whilst the government has endorsed the expansion of the academy programme, the “success of academy schools so far has been inconsistent, and unacceptable regional attainment gaps persist”. In order to address this, he believes that it should be a “priority” to ensure that high-performing academy chains have a strong presence in areas of poor education standards, highlighting key recommendations from the report.
