Director Andrew Haldenby spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live about the issue of hospital car parking charges and whether they should be banned. He argued that the charges are ultimately a “necessary evil”.
He highlighted the fact that the British public are not used to paying for healthcare charges in the same way other countries do, for example, when seeing a GP. However, giving up the charges would mean the NHS would lose millions of pounds of revenue at a time when it cannot afford to do so, due to its strained financial position.
