Senior Research Director Charlotte Pickles appeared on BBC Newsnight to discuss welfare reform.

She argued that saving money has taken precedence over reforming in the latest Budget, which is making delivering welfare reform more difficult. She cited the example of Universal Credit, where the vision is correct but it is being chipped away due to budget cuts. There is clearly a “challenge” that exists between the two different aims, although both the Treasury and Department for Work and Pensions play an important role in delivering welfare change.
