Reform was delighted to host The Rt Hon Ben Gummer MP, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General as he delivered a landmark speech on ‘The future of public services’.
When budgets are constrained and the economic climate is uncertain, one of the best ways to advance opportunity is through boosting public sector productivity. The previous Government set in train a number of digital reforms that will achieve just this. Electronic health records will soon give care teams a better understanding of their patients’ condition; the introduction of real-time tax data will allow Jobcentres to understand what really works in employment policy.
Still, there is much more government could do to improve the value for money of key public services through digital reform. We were delighted that the newly appointed Minster for the Cabinet Office gave a Reform policy lecture setting out his latest thinking on how to deliver more inclusive and efficient public services.
