Labour Party conference: “An inclusive economy: a new era for investment and growth”

Reform convened a private roundtable, led by Seema Malhotra MP, former Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, on the theme “An inclusive economy: a new era of investment and growth”.

The new administration has a welcome idea at its heart: to create an economy that works for everyone. The vision is not only greater prosperity but also wider opportunity. So much of this vision will depend on greater investment. Such investment can increase employment, through the creation of new businesses and the growth of existing ones. It can foster strategic industries which are part of the new administration’s industrial strategy.  In sectors such as energy and transport, it can improve infrastructure and so greater long term productivity. Achieving the right policy framework for investment, including the role of financial services, is therefore crucial.
