Conservative Party conference: ‘Is the NHS ready for medicines of the future?’

Reform convened a panel event at the Conservative Party conference on the theme ‘Is the NHS ready for medicines of the future?’.

Speakers were:

Philip Dunne MP, Minister of State for Health

Heather Blake, Director of Support and Influencing, Prostate Cancer UK

Mike Thompson, Chief Executive, The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry

The Five Year Forward View highlights the need for the acceleration of health innovation and discovery, in particular of medicines and pharmaceuticals. The NHS, it right states, “should be both optimistic and ambitious for the further advances that lie within our reach”, and the modern industrial strategy promotes innovation in the life sciences. An NHS which works in close partnership with the life sciences industry, and delivers good uptake of new technologies will support not only better patient care but also UK enterprise.

This event was held in partnership with the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry:
