Conservative Party conference: ‘Excellence in public service delivery’

Reform convened a private roundtable led by George Freeman MP, Chair of the Prime Minister’s Board, on the theme ‘Excellence in public service delivery’.

Excellent public services would contribute so much towards the new Government’s objectives of a rebalanced economy and stronger social mobility. In her first speech as Prime Minister, Rt Hon Theresa May MP prioritised changes to the criminal justice system and to university and school education. Speaking for Reform in July 2016, Rt Hon David Gauke MP set the goal of both protecting the interests of taxpayers, and seeking to deliver world-class public services.

This event brought together around 20 leading policy experts, public service and business leaders, Parliamentarians and other experts to identify key opportunities for progress for the new administration, reviewing examples of excellent delivery in a variety of public services, including those delivered by private sector companies. The discussion was held under the Chatham House Rule.
