Seminar with Claire Perry MP

Reform is delighted to host Claire Perry MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport to discuss “Smart transport”.

Citizen expectations are rising. Whilst the last Parliament saw investment of over £70 billion in transport and the start of ambitious projects such as HS2 and Crossrail, our transport system is still failing to deliver a sufficient level of service. Our roads remain congested costing the economy billions every year. Our trains are overcrowded with hundreds of thousands of people still forced to stand on their way into work each day.

“Smart transport” systems provide an opportunity to better design transport services around the needs of citizens. Utilising advanced analytics and strategically placed sensors, operators will be able to give citizens real-time travel insights. Commuters will receive travel suggestions that constantly assess their individual preferences against network conditions to recommend the smoothest journeys. For councils and service operators this data can be used to identify pressure points within road networks and public transport systems. Held with the support of BT this event will bring together a senior group of 18-20 policy experts and providers to explore this debate further.

Please be aware this event is by invitation only.
